1976: Lacrosse Team Wins National Title

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — They called it the greatest lacrosse game ever.

When Cornell and Maryland got together on May 29, something had to give. Both teams were undefeated: Cornell 15-0, Maryland, 10-0. Maryland had just set an NCAA playoff offensive record with 22 goals against Navy. Cornell had just set an NCAA playoff defensive record by shutting out Washington & Lee. Both had been ranked number one during the season.

1970: Icemen Win NCAA Crown; Harkness Gets Third Title

LAKE PLACID — Cornell’s and perhaps the nation’s greatest collegiate hockey team ever finished its season here Saturday night at 10:58 p.m., when Ned Harkness walked to center ice of the Olympic Arena to accept the 1970 NCAA championship trophy.
